Pollos Al Carbon

Stuck in traffic on the 101 South, I wondered whether I would rip open the whole chicken resting on the passengers side seat before I got home. Luckily traffic cleared up, so I didn’t have to explain to my gf why I age an entire chicken in the car on my own. The smell was legit mesmerizing… SO GOOD! I’ll be back soon, I can smell the charcoal as I type this out.

This is a can't miss established as they operate near Woodman Ave and use a wood BBQ that sends smoke wafting across the road nearly all day and night. It's a great way to advertise. I finally went in to try the succulent birds after five hears of taking many "bong hits" as i passed by. The roasting process on a real charcoal fire imparts a great flavor. There is no seating. It is a pickup only offering with no frills other than salsa and tortillas. I think they should sell whole chickens with nothing added for those who want to take it home as their main course. The chicken was good, but I think Vallartas is just as good and for a better price.

This place was amazing. The chicken was on point. They also do Carne Asada with amazing flavor. Beans and rice come as sides with the family meal and was perfect. We normally went to Pops chicken in North Hollywood but they always close early and it’s super frustrating when you want to eat after 5:30 PM. This will be our new go to place since they’re open late and their chicken is just as good if not better than other places we’ve been.

I must say this Chicken is the most addicting! The best juicy, moist and flavorful chicken I have ever had. This spot has been sending that nice mesquite smell for years. I finally stopped by on a Friday afternoon, the cook was busy grilling those chicken orders as fast as they were being placed. The Ladies in the Kitchen were so attentive and friendly. I ordered the #8/2 chicken combo with a large order of rice and beans, choice of 2 medium size salsas and tortillas mix of corn and flour. The chicken was so juicy with every bite, you can literally shred it off the bone. The rice was nice and fluffy beans were whole from the olla with a hint of chile but not spicy. The green tomatillo salsa was so delicious also the red chile de arbol was a little bit more spicy but delicious when mixed with beans and chicken! This was a meal for 4 people and still had leftovers. The next day, the chicken tasted even better after reheating it. The price we paid for the meal was way less than other chicken chains. It was so addicting that we ended up going back on Sunday but this time I called to place the order and it was ready when I got there, less than 30 minutes.

We got a whole chicken with flour tortillas, rice, beans, and both red and green salsa. We de-boned all the chicken and mixed it all together, like a goulash. Then we filled a dozen individual "tacos" to overflowing. Mmmm, mmm, good! Smokey, fresh, just the right amount of spice. The owner also let us sample his new, extra spicey chicken with a lime wedge...Wow! Power-packed with flavor! So good. Don't miss trying their quesadillas. They're cheesy and very good too. You won't regret bringing your out-of-town guests to this locals' secret.
